Founded during the 2022 protests by Gihan Mackay and Nuwan Shilpa, The Artivist Society envisions actively empowering Sri Lankan youth through art-focused civic engagement by advocating for democracy, responsible governance, and environmental sustainability. The goal is to foster a collective, creative, skill-based identity for Sri Lanka that transcends obsolete notions of boundaries while serving as a hub for archiving and mentoring artivism. Artivists Society strongly endorses the leveraging of technology in art as a means of shaping a brighter future.
