I don’t practice or view art within a frame, nor does it have any specific meaning behind it. I prefer to say painting is not something I enjoy but something I love. I simply draw what I feel without any other considerations, believing it to be a portrait of our inner selves, which we rarely express in life.

What are your thoughts on Activism and Art?
I believe practicing any kind of art is the most important thing that one can do for oneself because it makes you live and helps to express many feelings that weren’t possible to express through words and even to know the position of your thoughts. It may start with self-exploring to make a voice in society.
How will you integrate the monetary support and what you learned at the workshop into your artwork?
First I created art to get a break from reality and majorly to spend more time with me. However, the workshops that I attended made me to open my eyes on the position that I’m making through my Art. It made me question my artistic identity and position and thanks to this event I found my voice and identity as a Sri Lankan artist.
What is holding back Sri Lankan creatives?
I think it's many things starting from politics to self-expression.
What is your major goal as an artist?
I recently discovered my voice and my position as a Sri Lankan artist who practices Traditional art in a contemporary style. I came to understand that History holds many things yet not properly addressed nor explored. I want to explore and study more Sri Lankan art and its origins to make a voice in my country and in the world about our proud culture which is forgotten due to many social and political agendas.
How important is community to you?

1. செயல்பாடு மற்றும் கலை (Activism and Art) பற்றிய உங்கள் கருத்து என்ன?
ஏதாவதொரு கலையை பயிற்சி செய்வது ஒருவரால் செய்யக்கூடிய மிக முக்கியமான விடயமென நான் நம்புகிறேன், ஏனென்றால் அது உங்களை வாழ வைக்கும், வார்த்தைகளால் வெளிப்படுத்த முடியாத பல உணர்வுகளை வெளிப்படுத்தவும் உங்கள் எண்ணங்களின் நிலையை அறியவும் உதவும். இதை சமூகத்தில் குரல் எழுப்ப சுயஆராய்வோடு தொடங்கலாம்.
2. பண உதவி மற்றும் பயிற்சிப்பட்டறையில் நீங்கள் கற்றுக்கொண்டவற்றை உங்கள் கலைப்படைப்பில் எவ்வாறு ஒருங்கிணைப்பீர்கள்?
முதலில் நான் என் கலைபடைப்பை உருவாக்கியது யதார்த்தத்திலிருந்து ஓய்வு பெறவும் முக்கியமாக தனியே தன்னுடன் அதிக நேரம் செலவிடவும். இருப்பினும், நான் கலந்துகொண்ட பயிற்சிப்பட்டறையில் எனது கலையின் மூலம் நான் அடைந்திருக்கும் நிலையைப் பற்றி எனக்கு தெரியப்படுத்தியது. இது எனது கலைபடைப்பின் அடையாளத்தையும் நிலைப்பாட்டையும் கேள்விக்குள்ளாக்கியது மட்டுமன்றி இந்த நிகழ்வின் மூலம் நான் என்னை ஒரு இலங்கை கலைஞன் என்ற வகையில் எனது குரலையும் அடையாளத்தையும் கண்டறிந்தேன்.
3. இலங்கைப் கலைஞர்களைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்துவது எது?
அரசியலில் தொடங்கி சுய வெளிப்பாடு வரை பல விடயங்கள் இருப்பதாக நான் நினைக்கிறேன்.
4. ஒரு கலைஞராக உங்கள் முக்கிய குறிக்கோள் என்ன?
சமகால பாணியில் பாரம்பரிய கலையை நடைமுறைப்படுத்தும் இலங்கை கலைஞராக எனது குரலையும் எனது நிலைப்பாட்டையும் நான் சமீபத்தில் கண்டுபிடித்தேன். வரலாறு இன்னும் பல விஷயங்களைச் சரியாகக் கவனிக்கவில்லை அல்லது ஆராயவில்லை என்பதை நான் புரிந்துகொண்டேன். பல சமூக மற்றும் அரசியல் நிகழ்ச்சி நிரல்களால் மறக்கப்பட்ட நமது பெருமைமிக்க கலாச்சாரம் பற்றி எனது நாட்டிலும் உலகிலும் குரல் கொடுக்க இலங்கையின் கலை மற்றும் அதன் தோற்றம் பற்றி மேலும் ஆராய்ந்து படிக்க விரும்புகிறேன்.
