My passion lies in the realm of conceptual art, where I strive to create works that are both magical and realistic, seamlessly blending fact and fiction to convey important messages. In my recent artistic endeavors, I have sought to capture the essence of the Sri Lankan identity, often shining a spotlight on current events unfolding in my homeland. Infusing a sense of magic and mythology into my depictions of reality has become a defining aspect of my work.

What are your thoughts on Activism and Art?
Visual senses are the most prominent sense out of all 5 senses. Due to that, artworks has an ability to easily bridge the gap between a certain subject by making it more digestible & thoughtful through conceptual visuals. I have been using this ability of art to give massages for 4 years now.
How will you integrate the monetary support and what you learned at the workshop into your artwork?
Currently my field of interest and artivism is about using the theories of game design as a catalyst to educate the general public on the environmental issues & feminism. Which started as simple artworks to board games, now it has evolved into creating installations, which takes a generous amount of money.. So the monetary support will be valuable in creating installations.
What is holding back Sri Lankan creatives?
I’d say it’s the societal understanding on art. The successful career choices are considered to be a doctor or an engineer eventho art is what keeps us alive. The need of artists in the human society is often overlooked in Sri Lanka.
What is your major goal as an artist?
Influencing others. The most enjoyable part of Artivism is feedback where I get to hear other people’s stories and how they were empowered or influenced through my art. Secondly my goal is to live an intentional life, which I’ve started through deciding to be a full time artist.
How important is community to you?
Community is everything. It’s one of the biggest way of learning the concept of society, experiences and art.
Are you willing to collaborate with other artists for societal change?
Ofc. Collaboration is a human need in order to thrive. I would very much like to enhance the impact I give through my art, through collaboration.
1. செயல்பாடு மற்றும் கலை (Activism and Art) பற்றிய உங்கள் கருத்து என்ன?
5 புலன்களிலும் காட்சி புலனே மிகவும் முக்கியமான உணர்வு. இதனால் கலைப்படைப்புகள் ஒரு குறிப்பிட்ட விடயத்திற்கு இடையே உள்ள இடைவெளியை எளிதாகக் குறைக்கும் திறனைக் கொண்டுள்ளன, மேலும் கருத்தியல் காட்சிகள் மூலம் அதை மிகவும் ஜீரணிக்கக்கூடியதாகவும் சிந்திக்கக்கூடியதாகவும் மாற்றுகிறது. நான் 4 வருடங்களாக இந்த கலைத்திறனை பயன்படுத்தி கருத்துக்களை தெரிவித்துவருகிறேன்.
2. பண உதவி மற்றும் பயிற்சிப்பட்டறையில் நீங்கள் கற்றுக்கொண்டவற்றை உங்கள் கலைப்படைப்பில் எவ்வாறு ஒருங்கிணைப்பீர்கள்?
தற்போது எனது ஆர்வமும் கலைத்திறனும் என்பது சுற்றுச்சூழல் பிரச்சினைகள் மற்றும் பெண்ணியம் குறித்து பொது மக்களுக்குக் கற்பிப்பதற்கான ஒரு ஊக்கியாக விளையாட்டு வடிவமைப்பின் கோட்பாடுகளைப் பயன்படுத்துவதாகும். Board Game போன்ற எளிய கலைப்படைப்பில் தொடங்கிய இது, தற்போது அதிக பணத்தை செலவிட்டு செய்யும் installations போன்றன உருவாக்கி வருவதால், இதில் பண உதவி மதிப்புமிக்கதாக இருக்கும்.
3. இலங்கைப் கலைஞர்களைத் தடுத்து நிறுத்துவது எது?
கலை பற்றிய சமூக புரிதல் என்று நான் கூறுவேன். கலைதான் நம்மை வாழ வைத்தாலும் வெற்றிகரமான தொழில் தேர்வினை மருத்துவராகவோ அல்லது பொறியியலாளராகவோ கருதப்படுகின்றன. மனித சமூகத்தில் கலைஞர்களின் தேவை இலங்கையில் பெரும்பாலும் கவனிக்கப்படுவதில்லை.
4. ஒரு கலைஞராக உங்கள் முக்கிய குறிக்கோள் என்ன?
மற்றவர்களை செல்வாக்கு செலுத்தும். Artivism இன் மிகவும் சுவாரஸ்யமான பகுதி பின்னூட்டம் ஆகும், அதில் முக்கியமாக மற்றவர்களின் கதைகளை நான் கேட்கும் போதும் மற்றும் எனது கலையின் மூலம் அவர்கள் எவ்வாறு செல்வாக்கு செலுத்தப்பட்டனர் அல்லது தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தியது என அறிவதாகும். இரண்டாவதாக, முழு நேர கலைஞராக முடிவெடுப்பத்ததும் நான் உள்நோக்குள்ள வாழ்க்கையை (intentional life) வாழ்வதே எனது குறிக்கோள்.
5. சமூகம் உங்களுக்கு எவ்வளவு முக்கியமானது?
சமூகம் தான் எல்லாமே. சமூகம், அனுபவங்கள் மற்றும் கலை பற்றிய கருத்தை கற்றுக்கொள்வதற்கான மிகப்பெரிய வழிகளில் இதுவும் ஒன்றாகும்.
6. சமூக மாற்றத்திற்காக மற்ற கலைஞர்களுடன் ஒத்துழைக்க விரும்புகிறீர்களா?
நிச்சயமாக, மனிதனின் வளர்ச்சிக்கு ஒத்துழைப்பு அவசியம். எனது கலையின் ஊடாக, ஒத்துழைப்பின் மூலம் நான் கொடுக்கும் செல்வாக்கை அதிகரிக்க விரும்புகிறேன்.
